Kasenda Beekeeping group is a group of 7 young people based in Businge village, Kasenda Sub County, Kabarole District. The group stays near Kibale National Park where they face several challenges including human-wildlife conflicts (such as wildlife destroying crops etc.). To address challenges of access to resources and human-wildlife conflicts, GIC has supported the group in beekeeping for conservation and as a means to prevent conflict between problem animals. Beekeeping is not only an effective method of controlling elephants from straying into people’s gardens but also provides income to group members.Â
