Rwencwera-Kiyonza Youth Development Group
Rwencwera-Kiyonza Youth Development Group is a CBO that is being incubated at the Centre. The group specializes in nursery beds, seedling production, planting, and general plantation management. The group is made up of 21 young people selected from the host community and refugees from the Rwamwanja refugee settlement, in Kamwenge District
We provide seedlings for different crops and trees mainly focusing on coffee, eucalyptus (Kalitusi), Grevillea robusta (Silky Oak), Maesopsis Eminii (Musizi), passion fruits, guavas, oranges, avocado, mangoes, etc. of different types.
We also provide flowers and ornamental trees of various types.
Our team provides forest planting and management services. These range from land preparation, planting, weed control, thinning, and other services to ensure your trees grow to the required standards.
The group also focuses on the construction and maintenance of tower gardens, mainly for vegetable growing. Our tower gardens are made from basic materials such as wood, polythene bags, and bricks, among others. the focus of the tower gardens is to utilize small spaces for growing vegetables both for income generation and domestic consumption. Some of the tower gardens have been constructed at the homes of our members. We target to work with refugees to construct tower gardens within the settlement as a means to provide alternative food sources and reduce on dependence on food aid.
