Agriculture training and technology transfer

Our agriculture support and training focuses on 3 major areas. These include;

  • Capacity building for young farmers. We provide practical training for young people either as individuals or in groups. The training includes on-farm and classroom training. Our main focus is on using climate-smart approaches in farming. The trainees are also taken through disease identification and handling of crop diseases. Harvested products are linked up to off-takers through our market-link approaches or are taken for value addition depending on the crop and focus on the trainees.
  • Apiary and vermiculture; we support our clients to develop a wide range of products relating to apiary and vermiculture. Presently our focus is on training for beekeeping, harvest, and processing of bee products such as honey, bee venom, propolis, and wax. We also support young people interested in black soldier fly farming including farming for adult insects, and larvae farming, and linking them to buyers. Value addition from Black Solider Fly larvae is emphasized through the making of animal feed such as chicken feed, piggery, and fish meal. We also promote organic compost from byproducts of Black Soldier fly farming
  • Livestock support and training: our focus on livestock is limited to cows, sheep, and goats. Our training focuses on livestock farming and the production of animal feed including hay production, silage, and related feed. We also focus on the value addition of animal products such as yogurt, meat cuts, hides, and skin processing among others.
  • Shared services; here we provide shared services such as spraying, basic irrigation equipment, storage, post-harvest handling, etc. These help address the gaps in access to technology and equipment for the incubatees.
